Abstract.
The article characterizes the theme of education in the narrative by T. Z. Semushkin “Chukotka” as one of the most important genre-formative elements. The author presents a special view on the subject matter of the work. For the first time in the history of its study the role of A. Makarenko’s traditions in the plot structure of the book is highlighted. The system of the narrative images is analyzed. The moral evolution of the main characters is examined. Special attention in the analysis of the process of spiritual development of the personages is paid to the problem of interpenetration of Paleo-Asian and European cultures.
