Abstract.
The article is devoted to considering some initial abbreviations of the Russian language, pronunciation peculiarities of which cause some kind of difficulties among the speakers. Results of an oral survey became the basic material for the study. The authors attempt to determine reasons for the respondents’ communicative choice of one or another pronunciation version of components of abbreviations including consonants.
