Abstract.
The article deals with works of the leading Austrian playwright at present Felix Mitterer. The results of the culturological, semiotic, literary criticism and translation analysis of the play “Despondency” from the cycle “Deadly Sins” are presented. Particular attention is paid to production of this play by Vienna theater “Group-80” (the directors are H. Illich and H. Wiesner, the lead actors are A. Lhotzky and K. Thurm). The paper promotes familiarization of Russian readers with the modern Austrian drama and awakening of interest in it.
