Abstract.
In the light of rapid social transformations the problem of internal migration in China is particularly acute. In the present conditions not only peasants, but also representatives of other social classes are actively leaving their permanent places of residence in order to improve their living conditions. In this article on the basis of works of the Chinese sociologist Fei Xiaotong (费孝通) the authors analyze the current state of internal migration in China paying special attention to people with higher education.
