REGULAR ARMIES ORIGIN IN ITALIAN TOWNS IN THE XIVTH-XVTH CENTURIES

Abstract. The article reveals the basic features of the process of the formation of some elements of regular armies within the territory of Apennine Peninsula in the XIVth-XVth centuries. The author pays special attention to the origin and functioning of bodyguard forces (the so called familiares, famiglia) in Italian urban environment which became the prototype of regular armies within this country territory and had some features characteristic of them.
