Abstract. The author considers the ideological evolution of the outstanding representative of Russian public ideas I. V. Kireevskii and his place in Russian ideological-political struggle in the second quarter of the XIXth century. His ideological-political views are characterized as transitional ones between moderate Westernists and Slavophils' ones as he tended to the harmonization of European scholarship traditions and native historical development peculiarities.
