Abstract.
The author studies the qualitative foundations of volunteering expressed by the moral categories of good, altruism, compassion and mercy, considers the question of motivation to commit a moral act and pays special attention to the views of such philosophers as A. Schopenhauer and Vl. Solov'ev.
