Abstract. The author reveals social power problematics within the framework of modern society, studies the main object of the work - the notion governmentality intended to identify the new methods and forms of power implementation in society, considers power as a dis-objectified value characterizing social processes mechanisms and represents individuals' participation in these processes not via the submission to some authoritative attitudes but in the form of a free person's rational actions.
