Abstract. The authors consider the state authorities' attempts to create the religion according to political interests and analyzing historical material (the religious reform of Pharaoh Akhenaten, pagan church creation by Emperor Julian the Apostate and the Supreme Being cult in revolutionary France) come to the conclusion that the religions created by secular authorities are doomed to quick extinction as soon as the state support disappears.
