Abstract.
The author considers the question of Destructor influence on world shipbuilding, and shows that the ship did not have any significant technical innovations, which could dramatically influence world shipbuilding. F. William's ideas did not find the continuation in world shipbuilding, but as the main tendency in destroyers development was displacement tonnage steady increase, in the mid-1890s destroyers corresponded to William's ideal. The idea of Destructor, as the ancestor of destroyer class ships (destroyers), occurred only in the 1920s, probably under the influence of A. Rodriguez Elias's works.
