TRADITIONAL TUNES OF TAMBOV DISTRICT: "MATANYA": GENRE CHARACTERISTICS

Abstract. The author discusses the properties and characteristics of the syncretic folk song Matanya representing the trinity of instrumental, vocal and choreographic origins. The composition is a kind of Tambov district significant symbol, which is traditional within the whole region, and with some local performance peculiarities retains typical performance characteristics. At the time of folk music foundations total extinction the steady popularity of this composition makes it possible to observe the features of traditional collective creativity in its natural authentic existence.
