Abstract.
The author considers the changes in the cult architecture of England under the influence of Norman sacral architectonic samples at the end of the XIth - the beginning of the XIIth century, mentions that the Normans used the achievements of Lombardy school Romanesque architecture in their constructions, so Norman architecture is often equated with Romanesque within England; and concludes that despite the apparent similarity to early Christian imperial buildings the whole architecture of the Norman period in England is unique, it did not simply imitate the samples of Normandy, but converted them in accordance with local traditions.
