Abstract. The author describes the category of musical time and different ways of its metrorhythmic organization in the works of the American composer and minimalist Steve Reich, shows that under the influence of Eastern philosophy the musician formed the conception of composing as infinite musical process organized by means of repetitive technique, and considers all authorial repetitive techniques that allow drawing conclusions about the role of metrorhythm both in Reich's music pieces and in the practice of American musical minimalism in general.
