Abstract.
The author analyzes the social-cultural foundations of urban spaces polychromy formation in antiquity, considers the influence of social differentiation and the status portrait of ancient cities on the principles of their colour environment organization, analyzes the role of religion in defining the content of colour images, reveals the characteristic elements of colour spaces, and describes their role in the formation of unified urban texture and the maintenance of social relations and dependencies.
