Abstract.
The author analyzes the initial phase of Italian wars caused by the invasion of French troops to the Apennine Peninsula, which entailed the radical change of political landscape in Italy, and Italian states attempts to create anti-French league to confront the invasion relying on the alliance with the Empire and Spain; and studies in detail the policy of Maximilian I and imperial estates' position on assistance to Italian states.
