Abstract.
The author considers the problem of Ossetian peasants' traditional social culture transformation under the conditions of North Ossetia post-reform modernization, tells that the object of this research is the category of temporarily residing peasants, which formed as the result of serfdom abolition and internal migration, and the task of the article is to reveal innovative phenomena in the traditional behavioural practices and daily life of peasant-immigrants; and for the first time reveals the changes in the traditional organization of economy, settlement rules, family forms, and the norms of customary law basing on the analysis of the poll families lists of temporarily residing peasants in 1905-1906 and other sources.
