STAY OF CATHERINE II IN CHEBOKSARY ON MAY 25, 1767

Abstract. The author researches the little known facts about the preparation for the meeting and stay of Empress Catherine II in Cheboksary in the course of the inspection tour within Volga region in 1767, shows the difficulties that arose for the city authorities, and for the first time introduces into scientific circulation new archival documents found by the author at The State Historical Archive of The Chuvash Republic that allow taking a dive into that era and recollecting the true picture of the historical events.
