Abstract.
The author considers the topical problematic of gender identity formation in the contemporary society, in this vein describes M. Foucault and J. Butler's constructivist conceptions of gender identity, which had a significant influence on the gender theory of a subject, and reveals general and specific in Butler and Foucault's methodological approaches to the problematic of the social production of gender, as well as the availability of their theoretical and practical application in social-classical cognition.
