Abstract. The author reveals the problem of the theoretical substantiation of social ideal by N. G. Chernyshevskii, considers its essential features and specific characteristics, emphasizes the influence of Feuerbach’s anthropological philosophy and Hegel’s dialectics on the philosophical substantiation of the theory of progress, reveals the role of economy, economic factor in the theory of society and in the determination of social development, leading to social ideal, the theory of workers, and conducts the critical analysis of the main features of the theory of workers.
