Abstract.
The authors reveal the topicality of considering death as a social-cultural phenomenon, explicate the underlying reasons of the increased interest to the fact of human mortality, reveal the role of medicine and religion in the resolution of the issue of human immortality, as the model of the research suggest a two-level structure of death phenomenon, determine the social-anthropological factors of death distancing and resistance to it, give the estimation of this issue current state, and crystallize the particular significance of considering the phenomenon of death in the light of the dialectics of the notions “biological” and “social”.
