THE TURKISH MEDIA ROLE IN COVERING POLITICAL PROCESSES IN TURKEY AT THE PRESENT STAGE

Abstract. The authors estimate the role of the Turkish media in covering political processes in Turkey at the present stage, analyze parliamentary and presidential elections in Turkey in 2007 and the media role in the election campaign with the help of the content analysis of the leading periodicals articles; and substantiate the theory of the “minimal effect” of the media, according to which all media campaigns aim only to urge voters to their initial prepossession.
