MENTALITIES HISTORY IN THE GERMAN HISTORIOGRAPHY

Abstract.
The author discusses some features of the national (particularly German) conceptualization of the theory of mentalities, which were formed under the influence of the works of the famous French historical-anthropological school “Annals”, pays special attention to the definitions of the term “mentality” and the object of mentalities history, which are given by the German researchers, and despite the German scientists’ rather cautious attitude to mentalities history comes to the conclusions about the recognition of their French colleagues’ ideas, which received the broader context of review and are known under another title in the German historiography.
