Abstract.
The author considers Rakhmaninov as the leading exponent of landscape motifs in the Russian music art, draws parallels between his creative works and similar phenomena in the domestic painting (I. Levitan) and poetry (I. Bunin), emphasizes the semantic features of landscape images: from the harmony of human sense and natural environment merging till conflict disengagement, when nature cannot heal the darkness of the soul, pays special attention to the special role of sublimely soulful lyrics, and reveals the specific features of Rakhmaninov’s impressionism related primarily to the fact that the composer’s musical “landscapes” are filled with exceptional reverence, inseparable from human excited emotionality.
