Abstract.
The author considers the informational influence of the mass anti-authority actions of June 17 1953 in the German Democratic Republic on the social-political life of the Federal Republic of Germany. Several interpretations were developed in the course of the discussion of the events in East Germany by the West-German mass media. Some of them subsequently became a basis of the “historical policy” of West Germany and significantly changed the Germans’ attitude to their political history.
