SEEKING WAY OUT OF THEORETICAL CRISIS: “POLITICAL SCIENCE PARADIGM” OF CIVIL-MILITARY RELATIONS AT THE END OF THE XX TH – THE BEGINNING OF THE XXI ST CENTURY

Abstract. The author pays special attention to the reasons of the large-scale theoretical crisis in the “political science paradigm” of civil-military relations and to the analysis of the way out of this crisis in the 2000s, having shown the connection between the theoretical crisis of civil-military relations and the gradual decline of modernization theory in the 1980s, covers the theoretical search alternative ways and shows how the theoretical search of the 2000s led to the actual fragmentation of the “political science paradigm” until its complete disappearance as a single research direction; in conclusion provides an overview of the current state of civil-military researches and shows the degree of the fruitfulness of modern theoretical models study for the formation of Russia’s own approach to creating the collaboration between the army and the political system.
