Abstract.
The author analyzes the terminological and content aspects of the transition from monocentrism to polycentrism as one of the megatrends of the global development, pays attention to the correlation of the notions “power center” and “pole”, considers probable configurations of the polycentric world, and taking historical experience into account, anticipates a potential for new risks and threats to national and international security.
