Abstract.
The author discusses the actions, which were carried out by the Russian authorities in respect of captives (especially the Turks) during the Crimean War of 1853-1856, and basing on normative-legal documents and archival sources considers central and local authorities activity on convoying, placement, the provision of food, clothing, footwear and monetary maintenance for the captives, as well as the attempts to resolve the conflicts between them and local population.
