FORMAL-PRAGMATIC THEORY OF MEANING BY J. HABERMAS

Abstract.
The author considers the theoretical contributions of J. Habermas to the theory of meaning, reveals that the basis of the formal-pragmatic theory of meaning is the conception of three language functions by K. Buhler; basing on the criticism of the cognitive interpretation of truth, which reduces meaning to the content of sentence, shows that the understanding of language expression is equal to the knowledge of the conditions of its intersubjective acceptance as true, correct and truthful.
