Abstract.
The author studies the main reasons, forms and characteristic features of the Catholic clergy participation in the war for independence of Spain in 1808-1814, summarizes the results of scientific researches on the topic, uses a wide range of sources, and in conclusion substantiates the statement about the importance of the clergy role in the victory of Spain independence defenders over the forces of Joseph Bonaparte’s government and Napoleon’s France.
