Abstract.
The author considers the musical culture and life of the noble children of the middle of the XIX th – the beginning of the XX th century, as the research materials uses children’s piano albums by P. Chaikovskii, S. Bortkevich, A. Cherepnin, A. Grechaninov, V. Rebikov, conducts the research basing on the most outstanding documents of the “noble” era – the memoirs of Countess de Segur, S. Kovalevskaya, A. Benoit, and analyzing different aspects of children’s life reveals the complex of musical images and means, by which composers represent the attributes of the “children’s day”: upbringing, education, reading circle, and entertainment.
