STRUGGLE AGAINST NADIR SHAH AS FACTOR OF PRO-RUSSIAN ORIENTATION STRENGTHENING OF DAGESTAN RULING ELITE

Abstract.
The article sets a task to show the strengthening of Dagestan ruling elite orientation to Russia during the period of struggle against the aggression of Nadir Shah. The author reveals the reasons of the Russian-Dagestan relations improvement under the conditions of Dagestan people’s struggle for independence from Persia. The coincidence of the Russian government and Dagestan rulers’ interests, for whom the statement of the Persian ruler’s power in Caucasus would be equally dangerous, is shown. Particular attention is paid to the Russian aid and protection of Dagestan rulers, which served as a major contributor to the increased pro-Russian orientation.
