Abstract.
The article presents the analysis of the category of sublime from the point of view of the modern philosophical, as well as cultural and neuro-scientific theories of affectivity. The methodologies of these theories can reveal new features of the correlation between sensory and cognitive levels in the perception of sublime and define it as a phenomenon of “pure intensity” and the intention of overcoming the boundaries of sensuality arising at pre-cognitive level.
