Abstract.
The article is devoted to the complicated relations between Russia and England under the conditions of the Balkan crisis in the middle of the 1870s. Particular attention is paid to the analysis of the Russian-Turkish war (1877-1878) events perception by the British and Russian periodicals. The authors, by press materials of different political directions, show how the periodicals of these countries not only recorded the course of military operations, but also tried to intervene actively in them, to direct the process of political sentiments formation both in their countries and outside them in the new conditions of military confrontation.
