Abstract.
The article shows that the topical issue of choosing development ways for Russia requires the study of the Russian cultural identity essence and its correlation with other cultural codes. The philosophical conceptions of the Russian cultural identity are critically analyzed, and continuity in thinkers’ views of the past and the present is shown. The validity of considering the Russian cultural identity as the creative synthesis of the cultural codes of the West and the East on the basis of original national cultural archetype is proved.
