CRUELTY TO ANIMALS: SOCIAL AND LEGAL DESCRIPTION

Abstract.
The article presents the criminological description of the crime components “Cruelty to Animals” in accordance with Article 245 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. Similar normative regulations in the law of foreign countries are analyzed within the framework of comparative law. The approaches of the Russian and foreign scientists to the components of this crime are summarized and analyzed, and on that basis its main and optional features are distinguished. The conclusions about the connection of the prevalence of this kind of crime with further deviant behaviour are made.
