Abstract.
The article considers the activity of public prosecutor’s supervision bodies in Simbirsk province on crime prevention in the second half of the XIX th – at the beginning of the XX th century. Basing on the unpublished sources of Ulyanovsk Region State Archive the role of the prosecutor and his assistants in the process and termination of formal inquiries is studied, the extent of their participation in the preliminary investigation of offenses is revealed, and also the activity of prosecutor’s office staff in legal process is studied.
