“INNER HISTORY” OF A. SCHLEICHER NATURALISTIC HYPOTHESES AND THEIR MEANING FOR COMPARATIVE-HISTORICAL LINGUISTICS

Abstract. The “inner” history of the language naturalistic conception of the German linguist of the XIX th century A. Schleicher is considered in the article, who correlated biological evolution with linguistic one. “Inner history” is understood as certain standards of scientific character and the cultural-historical premises of this or that epoch, and also as the personality guidelines of the cognition subject. It is shown how certain scientific style of thinking (evolutionism, comparativism), philosophical doctrines (monism), cultural traditions (organic naturalism, language and nature connection), the scientist’s erudition influence hypotheses character that are put forward.
