FACTORS OF LANGUAGE SYMBOLIZATION AND HISTORICAL MEMORY IN UKRAINE

Abstract.
The article studies the factors of language political symbolization and historical memory in Ukraine. It is shown that the attitudes of the citizens of Ukraine to the language situation and historical events are interrelated. The data of sociological surveys showing the existence of regional differences in relation to historical events are given. The author comes to the conclusion that historical and cultural experience determines the existence of cognitive conflicts, which are usually not taken into account by researchers. It is contradictory cognitive attitudes that prevent overcoming political split in Ukraine.
