“ITALIAN SYMPHONY” BY S. N. VASILENKO: PROBLEM OF SUITE THINKING IN CYCLE

Abstract. The article is devoted to one of the first major compositions for the Russian folk orchestra – “Italian Symphony” by S. N. Vasilenko. The connections of two cultural tendencies – folkloric and professional – are emphasized by the composition example. In this sample the main artistic means of the folk orchestra and the academic techniques of development coming from symphonic music traditions smoothly interweave for the first time in the practice of that time. In the article “Italian Symphony” is considered as an original cycle with the pronounced principle of suite thinking.
