NOTIONS “SEX” AND “LIBIDO”: METAPHYSICAL AND PSYCHOANALYTIC APPROACHES (ACCORDING TO WORKS OF V. V. ROZANOV AND S. FREUD)

Abstract.
This article compares two approaches to the problem of sex – metaphysical and psychoanalytic – by the example of the Russian thinker V. V. Rozanov’s philosophy of sex and the classical conception of psychoanalysis, created by S. Freud. The basic philosophical categories, such as “sex” and “libido”, are studied, their definitions in the metaphysics of sex and Freudianism are clarified, and a number of similarities and differences are revealed. The main ideas of later Freud’s conception – Eros and Thanatos – are also analyzed.
