STRUCTURE OF ATHENIAN COLONIES-APOIKIAI (BY EXAMPLE OF HESTIAEA)

Abstract.
The article task is to reveal the main features of the Athenian colonies-apoikiai by the example of Hestiaea colonized in the mentioned form. The ascertainment of difference in colonies types is necessary for studying the Athenian colonization, especially in the light of considering Athens relations with other cities within the limits of navy alliances. The research main content is the analysis of the extant fragments of agreements between Athens and Hestiaea, on which basis the author concludes that for the Athenian apoikiai of the V th century BC the formal maintenance of independence and own authorities existence were typical but at the same time these settlements became dependent on the mother country.
