EMANATION AS BASIS OF CREATION ACCORDING TO DIONYSIUS THE AREOPAGITE

Abstract.
The article raises the question of correlation between the Neoplatonic (pagan in origin) and Christian views of the Areopagite by the example of the idea of the emanation of the Divine. In the course of the analysis of Dionysius’s texts the conclusion about the significant transformation of the Neoplatonic ideas in his theological system by emphasizing the notion of Divine Love (“ecstasy”) is made, and it allowed him to consider emanation in personalist aspect, without violating the important Christian principle of the dualism of the Creator and the created world.
