ULYANOVSK-MELEKESS DIOCESE UNDER ARCHBISHOP PALLADIUS (SHERSTENNIKOV)

Abstract. The article analyzes the activities related to the termination of Ulyanovsk-Melekess diocese at the end of the 1950s and its joining to adjacent Kuybyshev-Syzran one. Particular attention is paid to administrative methods and mechanisms involved into this process. Archbishop Palladius’s (Sherstennikov) personal role in managing the united dioceses is shown by concrete examples. The majority of the used archival materials is for the first time introduced into scientific circulation.
