Abstract. Basing on archival sources the article considers the directions of military-technical cooperation between the USSR and France in the sphere of military shipbuilding and armament in the 1930-1940s. The derangement of the negotiations with the representatives of the Soviet Union on obtaining technical assistance in the construction of the leader-destroyer “Fantask” for the USSR by the French companies “Chantier de France” and “Fives- Lille”, and the requisition of certain types of soviet military orders from the French firms by the War Ministry of France showed the Government of France negative attitude to this cooperation.
