Abstract. The article deals with romantic receptions in the works of the GDR writers as one of the ways to express veiledly oppositional views on the problems that arose in the totalitarian society of the second half of the XX th century. The usage of the German romanticism ideas named as “romantic movement” allowed the clerisy referred to the so-called “loyal” branch of the GDR counterculture (К. Wolff, Ch. Wolff, А. Seghers, К. Hein and others) to speak in public about their attitude towards socialistic reality. Such a situation contributed in not only the rebirth of the great historic epoch heritage but also in the apprehension of today’s topical issues.
