Abstract.
The article is about the history of the famous resort origin in the Udmurt Republic named Varzi-Yatchi, which is located on the bank of the river Bol'shaya Varzi. It’s told in details about the opening of the resort in February 1889. By the example of the act of the resort charitable donation by the great merchant in the Kama region P. K. Ushkov to Elabuga zemstvo the author shows the role of large business in the social history of our country and gives her opinion about the necessity to study the experience of the Russian businessmen’s previous generations.
