STYLISTIC ORIGINS OF A. CHEREPNIN’S PIANO CYCLE “BAGATELLES”

Abstract.
The article is devoted to one of the most original piano compositions of the Russian composer of the beginning of the XX th century А. Cherepnin – the cycle “Bagatelles” op. 5. This composition analysis in the context of the genre-stylistic traditions of different epochs and national schools is presented for the first time. Piano miniatures by F. Couperin, L. Beethoven, F. Liszt, the Russian composers (М. Mussorgsky, А. Lyadov, S. Prokofiev) are considered as such dominating influences on А. Cherepnin’s early style. Special attention is paid to the instrument interpretation and the repertoire potential of the presented cycle.
