CONCEPTION OF “THE OTHER” IN E. LEVINAS’S CREATIVE WORK

Abstract.
The goal of the article is to reveal the meaning of the concept of “The Other”, which becomes almost the central problem in the works of many thinkers of the XX century. Emmanuel Levinas’s creative work served as a basis for the analysis: the author makes an attempt to identify the specifics of the definition of the French philosopher. It is explained why E. Levinas is not satisfied with the definition of “The Other” from the viewpoints of formal logic. The author pays special attention to such characteristics of “The Other” as “face”, “divinity”, “infinite”.
