Abstract.
The article is devoted to the revival and development of the method of harmonic analysis based on the calculation of quint steps separating tone from the centre of pitch space. The method is based on the conception of “quint index” doubly applied by Y. Kholopov in his books. The author of the article considers analysis with quint indices as an alternative to the functional analysis of harmony and provides examples representing varied possibilities of this method.
