Abstract. The data of the report of 1965 (published for the first time) on the management of two eparchies of the Middle Volga region - Kuibyshev-Syzran and Ulyanovsk-Melekess - allow conducting the comparative analysis of the characteristic forms and phenomena of the Church internal life in the Soviet period. The article represents both the Church position and the viewpoint of the Soviet authorities concerning the facts of administration in respect of the clergy and the faithful.
